40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF FRIENDS FOR STREET CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (FFSC)

On August 22, Binh Trieu Development Centre celebrated the 40th anniversary of the presence and service of the Friends for Street Children Association.

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift” (2 Cor 9:15), the meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere with many sentiments of gratitude from everyone. Gathering here, the guests had the opportunity to review the long journey that has passed, to express gratitude for the many blessings received, and also to look forward to a bright future.

In communion, the concelebrated Mass was celebrated as a solemn thanksgiving to God. In the sermon, from the idea of ​​the two subjects of Meekness and Humility taught in the Jesus school, Father Joseph Nguyen Huy Hoang (MSC) portrayed the image of a wonderful friend of street children – Lord Jesus, who walked everywhere in Israel to make friends and give love and salvation to everyone, especially those who were the most difficult to be friends with. In addition, Father Joseph invited everyone to look back at how we have been friends with the children so that we can become friends with Jesus as He said: “Just walk beside me, and be my friend!”, and then, we also become close friends of the street children.

At the end of the Mass, Sr. Bich Huyen – FFSC Executive Director expressed her sincere thanks from the bottom of her heart to the concelebrating Priests,  Religious, Friends, Philanthropists, Local authorities at all levels, Departments, Organizations,…for their great love as well as their material and spiritual supporting. Thanks to the authority’s approval and help, the Program has a big opportunity to serve and accompany street children. Without everyone’s effective cooperation, the Program would find it difficult to survive and develop as today.

Continuing the joy of the meeting, the party took place warmly and filled with love, the beautiful songs combined with the exciting dances of the children showed the new vitality is still flourishing in the Program. To have this happy day, we appreciate the early hard work of Mr. Thomas Soi – the founder of Friends For Street Children Association (FFSC). Sharing at the ceremony, he emotionally recalled the time when he worked hard to sow the first green seeds for the Program, with only the desire to help unfortunate children have a place where they could be loved and educated to become good people.

The Program has ended but in fact, it is still open – open to welcome children, to welcome unfinished dreams and uncertain futures. Hopefully, through this anniversary, the Program will be given new motivation and will have more and more abilities to reach out and touch circumstances that are still full of hardships. Thanks to that, the lives of street children today will improve every day, less lonely and wandering, more warm and gentle!
